No list will ever find agreement. There's a bunch of rubbish in
there. Maybe I missed them, but I would have expected to have seen
something by James Baldwin, Herman Wouk, Jane Austen, the Brontes,
etc, etc. Fifty Shades of Grey? Please.

And not a Heinlein book in the bunch.

The list seems pretty skewed to me. Yeah, "Fifty Shades of
Grey" is pretty out there. I question how "loved" some of them
really are. "Dune"?

Several seem on there because librarians or literature teachers
seem to force them on unwilling students at some point in
their schooling too.

There's a recency bias in some of the books listed too such as
"Shades," "Hunger Games," and I'd bet "Handmaid's Tale" got
on there due to the recent TV series.

A real mixed bag, that list. I'm wondering how many of them will
stand up over time, because many certainly wouldn't be counted as
Great Literature. They're going to have a hard time getting
consensus on a definitive list. I doubt the same folks who
love Hunger Games are also fans of Moby Dick and so on.

I'm assuming that "Foundation" refers to the Asimov series, but
it doesn't have those asterisks denoting a series.

I'll also admit to never having heard of many of the books on
the list. Maybe if authors had been listed, I might recognize
a few more.

Nyssa, who will admit to never having finished "Little
Women" and had to struggle to get through "Dune"

The list will NEVER find agreement.
A lot of the list I had never heard of.
Many others I disliked being a forced read
for a class or some such.
More than one I really liked, but
regardless of anything I may discover if
I manage to watch, I will have to vote
for Gabaldon's "Outlander".

Not only is it my favorite of all of hers,
but its the only book other than books I've
read to children, that I've read 8 times,
and will probably read 8 times more if I
live long enough. It takes 1 weeks of
dedicated reading to get through the story
from start to finish as it stands today without
the other 4 or more upcoming books.
And a lot more entertaining than
"Inside, Outside, Upside Down"

I meant it takes 10 weeks to get through it,
not one. Takes a week just to get through
"Fiery Cross" and I'm a fast reader.
